Introduction

WAX is a web plugin. Its job is to load websites, web apps, and local pages inside your DAW. That means it uses the internet by design. We can describe what WAX itself does. We cannot account for what a site you open may collect, run, or send — that is the same as using a normal browser.

Analytics

If you are careful about analytics, here is exactly what WAX sends.

Activation uses the AudioFusion website (audiofusion.com). That is how you sign in and unlock the plugin.

After that, WAX only contacts AudioFusion for license checks. Those checks confirm that your subscription is still valid on this computer. They are not an ad network and they are not a browse history.

The built-in home page may send basic usage information (plugin version plugin type) for the WAX web app listings that appear on the homepage. This happens when you open WAX’s own home page. It does not run on every website you visit.

Pages you open can have their own analytics. WAX does not strip those. If a site uses Google Analytics, cookies, or trackers, that is the site — not AudioFusion.

We do not sell your browsing data, and we do not send AudioFusion a list of URLs you visit.

Firewall

You do not need to open any ports in your firewall or router for WAX to work.

If your firewall or security app asks about WAX, that is usually the plugin checking your license, downloading an update, or loading a page you opened — the same kind of outbound web traffic a browser uses. You should not need an inbound / “allow incoming connections” rule.

WebSocket

WAX runs a small WebSocket server on this computer only (127.0.0.1:8787). It starts when the plugin loads. It is not opened to your network or the internet — other computers cannot reach it.

Some pages use it for signaling (for example WebRTC-style features). If a page opts in, it can also carry an extra audio stream over that connection. Most pages and normal use do not need it.

Plugin audio to and from your DAW does not go through this WebSocket. Normal sound uses the plugin’s regular audio path inside the host. This port is not how WAX plays or records in your session.

Updates

WAX has an update service that can download the latest built-in assets and helper files (home page, helper scripts, and related files) so the plugin stays current without a full reinstall and can run offline. That is a file download from our update server.

What you load

Anything you navigate to — a website, a file on disk, or a page you build — is outside AudioFusion’s control. Those pages can use cookies, scripts, and their own servers. Treat them the way you would in Chrome or Safari.
